Johnny and the Moondogs was one of the names the band used when they were teenagers, long before becoming The Beatles. They started out calling the band The Quarrymen and then in 1959 they changed the name to Johnny & The Moondogs. They eventually went back to the Quarrymen again before becoming The Silver Beatles and of course The Beatles. In 1959, they were mostly a Skiffle Band which was very popular in Liverpool during the late fifties and early sixties.
