Please note that in order to offer the most authentic looking designs, concert ticket art prints often have a distressed, weather look due to normal aging and wear and tear on the actual ticket stub.   Some ticket prints may show some blemishes that are part of the original source and are not due to a defect in the print process. Some restoration is done when possible but the source photos used come from the genuine artifact, most of which are decades old so uneven colors, faded print, and other blemishes may be visible.

I found this unused ticket for sale on an auction site in 2013 and it jumped off the screen right away. First of all, Janis is one of my favorite artists but I was even more amazed at the venue from which this ticket came. The Coliseum at the Eastern States Fair grounds is about 20 minutes from where I live and every year hosts one of the largest fairs in the country "The Eastern States Exposition", but is more commonly known as "The Big E".

The Coliseum was built in 1916 in the early days of the fair and only seats 5900 people. Back in the early seventies our local AHL Hockey team (then known as the Springfield Kings) used to play there home games at the Coliseum and I went there all the time to watch the games with my Dad. I have amazing memories of this place. The Coliseum is mainly used now for horse-show events during the two weeks of the Big E and to my knowledge, doesn't seem to get used for much else as there are now many larger and more modern venues in the area. But I can only image how amazing it must have been to have been in attendance to see an icon such as Janis Joplin, in this timeless old venue.
