Japanese Art Ukiyo-e
For anyone that may not be familiar with the term Ukiyo-e, it is a genre of Japanese art which flourished from the 17th through 19th centuries. Its artists produced woodblock prints and paintings depicting daily life in Japan and other culturaly significant subjects such as female beauties, kabuki actors and sumo wrestlers, folk tales, scenes from history along with travel scenes and landscapes. The most famous artists in this particular genre include Utagawa Hiroshige, Tsuchiya Koitsu and Kobayashi Kiyochika, among others and they are considered the Masters of the Ukiyo-e art form.
These recreations were created using various digital art programs and still don't come any where close to what these master artists created using woodblocks, but they capture the essence of the artform and make a great addition to your wallspace.
