All of the subject that I chose for my "music icons" series are artists that I personally love and in most cases, I'd consider myself major fan. So I like to write a few lines about each one in my listings but sometimes, I don't have the words to describe the artist accurately. That is the case here with Tom Waits. So instead, I'm going to use a quote from music critic Daniel Durchholz who described Waits voice "as sounding ‘like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car." That sounds about right to me. Long Live Tom Waits.
