Please note that in order to offer the most authentic looking designs, concert ticket art prints often have a distressed, weather look due to normal aging and wear and tear on the actual ticket stub. Some ticket prints may show some blemishes that are part of the original source and are not due to a defect in the print process. Some restoration is done when possible but the source photos used come from the genuine artifact, most of which are decades old so uneven colors, faded print, and other blemishes may be visible.
The Clash played a series of 17 concerts at Bonds International Casino in New York City during May and June of 1981 in support of their Sandinista! album. As the band had not yet broken into the mass popularity in the U.S., eight shows were originally scheduled. However, given the venue's legal capacity of 1750 people, the series of shows was blatantly oversold right from the first night, leading the New York City Fire Department to cancel the first Saturday show.
While the Clash outwardly condemned the braze greed of the promoters responsible for the over sales, the band demonstrated their incredible integrity by agreeing to more than double their booking and play 17 dates in order to accommodate all of the fans that already had purchased tickets. The tickets were sold using "The Clash Invasion" to commemorate their first and only U.S. residency.
