This painting features a beloved Bloomington Inidana Ice Cream shop called The Chocolate Moose, which according to their website, opened as May's Cafe back in 1933, and was reinvented over the last several decades until it eventually became known as The Chocolate Moose in 1983.
Sadly, this building no longer exists as the Chocoloate Moose it was demolished in 2016 to make room for a four story building. This is what politicians call "progress". The Chocolate Moose is still in operation in a new location but I don't know how anyone would look at this original location (the building was built in 1957) and decide it needed to be demolished.
