I created a series of Art Prints immortalizing great Record Stores from around the world. As a life long record collector that spent nearly 20 years working in Record Shops back in the 80's and 90's, I have a passion for these treasures of the past that are gone forever. I know times change, but I find it sad that most of today's music fans will never understand the amazing times when there were record shops on every corner. These posters were created as a reminder of those wonderful days.

This print is my favorite in this series of Record Shop art prints. It features Charlie Ace (real name Valden Dixon) with his Swing A Ling Mobile Record Shack. This picture was taken in Kingston, Jamaica in the early seventies. Charlie Ace was a popular DJ in the late sixties and early seventies who also recorded several Reggae records of his own. Charlie worked with Joe Gibbs and Lee "Scratch" Perry among others. But Charlie's real claim to fame was his idea to create the Swing A Ling Mobile Record Shack. Basically a record-shop on wheels. Charlie converted a Morris Van into the Mobile Record Shack and would drive around the back streets of Kingston selling the latest releases off the back of his truck. There isn't much information around regarding Charlie or the record shack, but I was shocked and amazed to find that there is a five minute video on YouTube features some old grainy video of Charlie on the streets with his Record Shack, and there is also interview footage as well. This is must-see for Reggae fans.

As with all of prints and posters, this is an original design featuring my own illustrations, graphic design and art work. • Digitally Printed. • Available in 11x17 and 16c20 inch. • Printed with a Matte Finish on Heavy Duty Archival Paper • 220 GSM Heavy Weight Paper • Frame is not included.
