Charlie Ace was a popular DJ in the late sixties and early seventies who also recorded several Reggae records of his own. Charlie worked with Joe Gibbs and Lee "Scratch" Perry among others. But Charlie's real claim to fame was his idea to create the Swing A Ling Mobile Record Shack. Basically a record-shop on wheels. Charlie converted a Morris Van into the Mobile Record Shack and would drive around the back streets of Kingston selling the latest releases off the back of his truck. There isn't much information around regarding Charlie or the record shack, but I was shocked and amazed to find that there is a five minute video on YouTube features some old grainy video of Charlie on the streets with his Record Shack, and there is also interview footage as well. This is must-see for Reggae fans.
