Son House began playing in 1927 at the age of 25. His iconic slide guitar and preaching style vocals made an immediate impact in the Mississippi Delta area where he lived, influencing such giants of the Blues as Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters. In the early forties, Archivist Alan Lomax made several recordings for the Library of Congress of House and has band, after which, House quit music in 1942.
In 1964, a group of record collectors discovered House through the Library of Congress recordings and encouraged him to return. House returned to his music in 1964 and began receiving his long overdue national recognition.
This poster design commemorates House's appearance at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.
Digitally printed art print / poster printed on thick and long-lasting 200 gsm / 80 lb matte paper.
