Anyone that knows me can tell you I listen to so many genres and am a bit of a historian when it comes to recorded music, and as a result, I love hundreds of bands. But there are a few that I consider the Gold Standard, my Holy Grails if you will, and The Band is clearly in that category.
Each member of The Band was a virtuoso and the music they created was like nothing before or since. Levon Helm and Rick Danko were my favorites and I'm lucky to say I got to see them perform a few different times, and even got to meet Rick Danko at a club he was playing.
