Hot Sam's Pretzels opened their first store in the Livonia Mall in Michigan in 1966, and by 1985, they had 175 locations. In 1995 the chain was sold to Mrs. Fields and was merged with their Pretzel Time brand. A cool side note: Hot Sam was recreated in 2018 for an appearance in the mall food court of the Netflix series Stranger Things, which is set in the mid-1980s
