Before their rise to super-stardom, The Beatles spent nearly two years on and off playing for months at a time in Germany. While there, they met German Photographer Astrid Kirshherr who photographed them on several occasions. I wanted to create a series of watercolor paintings of the young Beatles, and used Kirchherr' photos as inspiration. This is George Harrison, complete with Teddy Boy leather jacket, circa 1961.
