Please note there are two versions of this Art Print listed separately in my shop. This one is as shown, the other features the word "Nashville" across the bottom of the poster.
I created a series of Art Prints immortalizing great Record Stores from around the world. As a life long record collector that spent nearly 20 years working in Record Shops back in the 80's and 90's, I have a passion for these treasures of the past that are gone forever. I know times change, but I find it sad that most music fans will never understand the amazing time when there were record shops on every corner. These posters were created as a reminder of those wonderful days.
The Ernest Tubb Record Shop was so much more than a record store. It was an institution. Country Music legend Ernest Tubb opened the shop in 1947. In 1951, the store began hosting their Midnight Jamboree radio show, featuring legend of the Grand Ole Opry, which eventually became the longest running radio show in history. The store frequently held in-store appearance and live performances as well as having the largest selection of Country Music anywhere in the U.S. It is tremendously sad to see that the store will close it's doors for good in the Spring of 2022. Another music treasure, the likes of which we'll never see again.
