Black Swan Records is one of the most historically significant and iconic record labels in history. Black Swan was founded in Harlem New York in 1921 and was the first ever black-owned Record Label, focusing on making records mainly for black audiences. They specialized in Jazz and Blues recordings and had moderate success until late 1923 when they declared bankruptsy. Black Swan was eventually sold to Paramount but their legacy and impact on music can not be overstated. Black Swan's short lived success showed the white-owned labels such as Columbia and Paramount how important the black audience was regarding recorded music and as a result, these other companies started recording and looking to add more black artists to their respective catalogs.
PLEASE NOTE: All record label designs are created using scans of authentic 45, 33 and 78 RPM records. As a result, these designs may have blemishes that are part of the original vinyl record label and are not due to poor print quality. This is done by design so we can offer a truly vintage and authentic look.
