Anyone growing up in New England remembers Bradlees Department Stores. Bradlees was a huge discount department store chain with 105 locations throughout the Northeast. They opened in 1958 and were in business until 2001. Like a lot of discount chains during the sixties and seventies, Bradlees added lunch counters into their stores, later before later adding Taco Bell, Dunkin Donuts and Pizza Hut to some locations. Growing up in Massachusetts, Bradlees was our go-to store long before any of us heard of Walmart.
