I was in high school in the early 80's and was known even back then as an avid record collector. Anyone that knew my taste in music knew I loved The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Doors etc. and that I also loved a lot of Metal too (Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest). So imagine my friends surprise and shock when we went to the record shop and I came out with Culture Club's "Colour By Numbers" which had just been released. I was watching MTV the day before and I saw the video for "Karma Chameleon" and I was hooked immediately. I couldn't get over the vocalist whose made the vocals sound so effortless.  Needless to say Culture Club wasn't a popular choice with my other teenage male friends who didn't think they were "cool" enough, but I couldn't have cared less. To this day, I think Boy George is one of the great Pop Vocalists of all time and I think Culture Club is one of the greatest bands of the eighties.
