As a life-long New Englander I can say with certainty that people in this region take a lot of pride in the role that New England played in the history of this country. This art print features the iconic USS Constitution, also known as "Old Ironsides". This US Navy ship is the oldest ship still afloat in the entire world, having first set sale in 1797. The Constitution is anchored in the old Charlestown Navy yard and is open year round to visitors. In the early seventies when I was a kid, my Grandfather was a longshoreman at the Navy yard and we'd go see him there when he was working long shifts (which was all the time). We'd never leave that place without first going to look at this beautiful ship. It never got old.
