Reggae artist and producer Lee "Scratch" Perry founded his own record label, Upsetter Records in Kingston Jamaica in 1968 in order to produce his own records.  Perry signed the original Wailers and recorded some of the earliest recordings of Bob Marley, prior to them leaving for Island Records.  During this time, Perry also opened up his own record shop in Kingston so he had a place to sell the records he was producing.
