Art Prints William H. Johnson
William H. Johnson is one of my favorite artists. If you don't know much about him or his work, do a Google search and you'll see what an amazing talent he was. Most of his work was literally rescued from being discarded after being found in a storage facility and most of it is now displayed in the Smithsonian Museum of Art.
Here is what SMA wrote when exhibiting Johnson's work: "By almost any standard, William H. Johnson (1901–1970) can be considered a major American artist. He produced hundreds of works in a virtuosic, eclectic career that spanned several decades as well as several continents. It was not until very recently, however, that his work began to receive the attention it deserves" Using a palette of only four or five colors and painting frequently on burlap or plywood, Johnson developed a flat, consciously naïve style.
All of William H. Johnson's work is now in Public Domain and by offering these art prints, I hope to play a small role in keeping his work alive.
